In the last half-century, new food concepts such as vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, and a slew of others have gained major ground among Americans consumers. Consequently, this means that more farms have been dedicated to these special food classes, and women are actively involved in companies that ease the difficulties of raising food for each category. Women account for 30 percent of farm operators, bucking the stereotype of old, white men on tractors and a hayseed between his teeth.
