Researchers from Johns Hopkins University recently found that progesterone, a natural female sex hormone which can be found in most hormone-based birth controls, was successful in easing the effects of influenza in mouse studies. It even sped up healing for damaged lung cells! The Bloomberg School of Public Health team thinks that perhaps one day progesterone may be a viable flu treatment for women.
