Yeshi is a Facebook Messenger bot whose character represents a young girl living in Ethiopia. Yeshi brings her followers along for a two and a half hour “walk” to find clean water, bringing three gallons of it back to her family. The bot was created by Lokai and the non-profit charity:water.

Facebook could collect even more data on individuals and their programs, and sell the data to third parties, which is a major way the social media company generates revenue. It all depends on how consumers would react.
