In Science Fiction the Race for Female Readers Should Be Underway

In Science Fiction the Race for Female Readers Should Be Underway

If real life invisibility cloaks aren't as cool as the stories, then women of all ages should delve back into the storybooks. Science fiction breeds from a love of science and art, and the imaginations that find their limitations in the physical world can thrive on paper. Maybe Harry Potter Go will be the next mobile sensation!

New York Times ‘Ghostbusters’ Review: Girls Rule. Women Are Funny. Get Over It.

New York Times ‘Ghostbusters’ Review: Girls Rule. Women Are Funny. Get Over It.

It would be a travesty to forget mentioning a certain all-female scientist movie. The remake of the 1984 cult comedy "Ghostbusters" has received very mixed reviews so far, but the NY Times calls the film "cheerfully silly" and praises Kate McKinnon in particular for being a "sublime nerd goddess." Even if the movie doesn't achieve unanimous adulation, the mere acceptance of an all-female cast is an encouraging sign.

Disrupting DC: Shana Glenzer Promotes Women In Tech

Disrupting DC: Shana Glenzer Promotes Women In Tech

Surprisingly, Washington DC is a hotbed for women interested in the tech field, as over 40% of tech workers are female. A great piece of advice in this interview; working in technology doesn't mean exclusively coding or computer science. Every tech company needs a marketer, a salesperson, an accountant, and a myriad of other occupations all companies employ.

Barbie’s Running for President, Too

A new third party has emerged in the 2016 presidential race. Barbie, released and running as president for the sixth time since 1992, is also running with a female doll, not Ken. Barbie presidential dolls have sold poorly in the past, but Mattel has decided to continue rolling out the original Barbie with a more "contemporary" wardrobe. The doll retails at $24.99.

NASA catches Moon 'photobombing' Earth

Come on Moon, you can't photobomb; it's not 2013 anymore! NASA's Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR) satellite caught the Moon sneaking into a series of pictures of the Earth. The Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera (EPIC) on DSCOVR recorded the images to track environmental and atmospheric changes of the Earth, and this is only the second time EPIC or DSCOVR has glimpsed the Moon.

Pokémon Go will soon get ads in the form of sponsored locations

With the rousing success of Pokémon Go, companies are looking to cash in on the most popular app of 2016. Businesses are trying to purchase a spot in the app as a Proper Name manipulating the lures and Pokestops that identify locations with Pokémon pertaining paraphernalia. 5 mobile models for Nintendo’s other popular game franchises

STEM doesn't always have to be serious. Sometimes we have to remember how much fun it is to play video games, and how some lifelong gamers want to design fun software for the next generation. Astronomers Find Evidence of Water Clouds in First Sspectrum of Coldest Brown Dwarf

The brown dwarf, WISE 0855, is relatively close to Earth (only 7.2 light years away) but also relatively mysterious. Until now. Astronomers at UC Santa Cruz have concluded that there is a strong possibility WISE 0855 has clouds formed from water, or water ice. These are the first clouds to have water outside of the Milky Way.
